Keeping Women in STEM fields
The researchers say the women's reason for leaving STEM-related jobs are primarily family related--and were three times more likely report that as a reason for leaving, whereas men report not being able to have the pay or promotion they sought. Women also reported a lack of jobs relating to their highest degree or that they had a change in career, but were less likely than men to report that.
Overall, men hold 77% of jobs in STEM fields, with women holding down just 23%.
