STEM education

Want to get girls excited about engineering?  Then just let them build bridges, launch rockets and watch tidal waves flood Lego structures.

More American Girls will be going tech. The non-profit Girls Who Code that seeks to inspire, educate ,and empower young women, preparing them for careers in engineering and tech, will be expanding to three more cities.
Universities fail when it comes to getting more women into science. And it's not the students' fault. According to a new study of 50 different programs, improving the science and engineering gap should focus on the faculty and institutions. Faculty often portrays science and engineering "as highly competitive, masculine domains." Peer mentoring won't work as well as structural change. The study looked at classroom environments and program directors' attitudes about women.
